NUCLEAR CRITICALITY SAFETY THEORY AND PRACTICE (NE 4499 / 5599)

This course has three main topics; study of historical nuclear criticality accidents, understanding of the regulatory basis associated with nuclear criticality safety, and development of the physics associated with nuclear criticality safety.  Students will become familiar with handbooks and benchmark critical experiments.  This class will allow the students to take a hands on approach to criticality.  Extensive use of the SCALE software package is included.  NE 4499 / 5599 conforms to ANS 8.26.
